DESCRIPTION:
"The Likuni bowl is an extremely large, beautifully handcrafted African Malaina bowl. This bowl would be perfect for a large foyer in a home, business or hotel. Named after the Likuni river in Central Malawi, this is the largest Malaina bowl we've made. African Malaina is light in color and high in character. An extremely durable exotic wood species, it's one of our favorites to work with in our workshop in Malawi."
-Jamar Simien, Creative Director of Contour
Known as the wave bowl, because they are meticulously formed using the natural grain and features of the wood to provide a unique and individual piece. No two pieces are the same. This particular bowl is made out of the storied African Malaina tree and comes from Eastern Africa, from a small country known as Malawi.
Malawi is part of the great rift valley and its flora and fauna are unique and some of which are not found anywhere else in the world. This beautiful bowl can be used to decorate ones home and will provide a distinguishing look to any living area.
Sustainability is important to us. In partnership with Root to Fruit, we are pledging to plant 15 fruit trees in the country of Malawi when this bowl is sold. The client can choose the tree species, will receive a certificate from the non-profit organization, and will also have a GPS location of where their trees have been planted in Africa.
